Karl Hobbs is one of the most popular and richest Basketball Player who was born on August 7, 1961 in Roxbury, United States. Karl Bernard Hobbs II (born on August 7 1961) is an American college basketball coach of men who is currently the assistant director of basketball at Rutgers University. He was the former director of the George Washington University Colonials men’s basketball team. In his time the Colonials were winners of the championships of two Atlantic 10 Conference championships and had the three straight NCAA Tournament appearances from 2005-07. Hobbs is well-known for his energetic, fast-paced coaching style.

On May 7th, 2001, Hobbs was named head coach at George Washington University after previous coach Tom Penders resigned following a failure to achieve success and several scandals at Foggy Bottom. Penders claimed that his resignation was due to the fact that, after more than 30 years as a coach the team, the time seemed like “time for a sabbatical,” and claimed that the decision was not connected to issue of off-court matters.

Two of Hobbs’s players at George Washington played in the NBA and a third was drafted in the second round in 2006. They are: Pops Mensah-Bonsu, Mike Hall and J. R. Pinnock. Yet, after making it to the NCAA tournament the following season, Hobbs’s squad missed the A-10 tournament for two consecutive years leading fans to call for his firing.

Karl Hobbs was born and was raised within Roxbury, Massachusetts, a neighborhood in Boston. Hobbs began his basketball career in Burke High School before he moved onto Cambridge Rindge and Latin School following a controversial move that saw Burke head coach Joe Day accused Cambridge coach Mike Jarvis of illegally recruiting Hobbs. In Cambridge, Hobbs played point guard with the the future NBA player Patrick Ewing. They took home the Massachusetts State High School title and Hobbs was named Massachusetts Schoolboy Player of the Year during in the season 1979-1980. After high school Hobbs, who measured 5’8″ Hobbs attended the University of Connecticut playing basketball under Coach Dom Perno and setting a school record (since-broken) with 534 career assists, an amount that is currently fourth in the history of the school.
